The Beauty of Christ (Blog)

You can certainly see the beauty and majesty of God in His sinless perfection, but even more so in His perfect goodness and love expressed in Jesus Christ.   And though it may be incomprehensible that Christ Himself was without sin,  what is even more amazing is that He became sin for us on the beautiful Cross.

I believe Jesus became the “sin offering” for us. If He became “sin” then He would not have been the perfect lamb for sacrifice.

Thanks Esther. I appreciate your understanding of the text: “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Cor. 5:21). So it is appropriate to say that Jesus took upon Himself the guilt of the sins of the world: “All of us like sheep have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; but the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all to fall on Him” (Isaiah 53:6). So, yes, it is impossible for Jesus in His sinless perfection to become a “sinner,” but He did take on Himself the guilt, shame, and penalty for our sins. Thus, Jesus “became” sin for us: “For He Himself bore our sins on the tree…” (1 Peter 2:24).
