Heavenly Bliss (Reflections on the Beatitudes)

How utterly content and at peace are those who are broken, who humbly and continually recognize their absolute need for God.  They walk freely on the streets of the glory-filled Kingdom of God.

How utterly content and at peace are those who grieve and suffer loss, because they know they are going to experience the awesome presence of Almighty God.

How utterly content and at peace are those who do not strive for wealth or are ambitious for fame. They know they have much more, an amazing inheritance, awaiting them in God’s Kingdom.

How utterly content and at peace are those who ache for an abiding, ever-deepening relationship with God.  They are fulfilled in their yearning.

How utterly content and at peace are those who do not judge others, but grant forgiveness and mercy to all.  They do it because they know they have been forgiven and have received abundant mercy from God.

How utterly content and at peace are those who by simple faith have surrendered their wills and accepted their total dependence on God.  They are the ones who see and meet with God regularly.

How utterly content and at peace are those who bring people together whose relationships are shattered, who mend that which was broken.  They are the true sons and daughters of God.

How utterly content and at peace are those who get ridiculed or even beaten and tortured for their faith in Christ.  They know that God has given them the eternal victory and the Kingdom, and so they rejoice and are always happy.
