As a pastor and chaplain, I have often heard confessions from men and women who seem contrite about not having gone to a church service or Mass in a while. I usually tell them, “That’s okay; God doesn’t really want you to go to church anyway.”
God is, however, very much interested in your becoming an active member of His Family, experiencing His grace and worshiping regularly with your brothers and sisters in the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. In fact, to not be an integrated part of the Body of Christ is to be without salvation and outside the Kingdom of God.
So, “going to” church—wrong; but, “being the” Church—right. Go be it!
